
Toronto native, Alexandra Ma, began her musical journey at age six. Since then, she has been a prize-winner of numerous competitions around the globe.
Alexandra’s first international win was a First Place at the Livorno Piano Competition in Italy. That same year, she received First prize at the 30th Young Musician International Competition ‘Città di Barletta’. She was among the youngest to earn the Associate Diploma in Piano Performance (ARCT) from the Royal Conservatory of Music, receiving the distinction at the age of eleven.
She has participated in masterclasses with Ronan O’Hora at Orford Music Academy, Professors Yoheved Kaplinsky, Yong Hi Moon, Pavel Nercessian, and John Perry. Aside from competing and giving recitals, Alexandra is actively involved in community outreach, organizing free concerts at long-term care homes across the GTA. An avid chamber musician, Alexandra has collaborated with instrumentalists from her high school, St. Clement’s School, including a performance with an oboist at the school’s annual Carol Service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Her favourite composers are Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and Debussy; in her spare time, Alexandra enjoys building new mechanisms for her VEX team’s robot, Phloem, collecting stamps, and also plays flute.
She has since won the Gold Award at the Steinway Piano Competition, the Pianist of the Year Award from the London Young Musician of the Year, and First Prize in the Junior Artist Category at the Beethoven Young Musician Competition. She was also awarded the Chopin Trophy at the CCC Piano & Violin Competition.
A seasoned soloist, Alexandra has performed at the Royal Ontario Museum, Carnegie Hall, and Kurozwęki Palace (2019). As a winner of the 2024 Ocean Music Foundation Festival, Alexandra performed in the Chopin Complete Works Concert Series, presented by the Ocean Music Foundation in Brooklyn, New York. 2025’s highlight was Alexandra’s international orchestral debut in Brescia, Italy.
Alexandra is an alumni of The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and currently studies with Dr. Michael Berkovsky and Dr. Coral Solomon.
